RESEARCH AND TEACHING
The Child is father of the Man;
And I could wish my days to be
Bound to each by natural piety.
A young child, though she or he might one day become an academic professor with a PhD need not (or should not) worry about those impediments to wonder and unbounded curiosity that are dreamed up by politicians and academic bureaucrats. Now in “retirement” I count myself fortunate in having somehow contrived over a long career to fulfil Wordsworth’s wish.
Perhaps my academic career looks somewhat eclectic, polymath even, but there is a theme that runs right through it – Value as a Reason for Action, a phrase incorporated in the title of my PhD thesis.
Click the pictures to see where value has motivated action in the form of research, teaching and project development.
