Heritage Rail

Volunteering is an operative value

There are (as yet) few publications on this page, but what is not unproblematically referred to as "heritage rail" is actually the oldest and most enduring of my own values.  It is therefore perhaps inevitable that I should return to my early childhood roots in the final phase of an academic career driven by value as a reason for action.  As education consultant to the Heritage Railway Association I am now engaging in a programme to understand why young people should value steam age railways enough to secure the long term future of the peculiarly British preoccupation with what was once called railway preservation.
