Here you will find details of the research programme I have been working on since retirement. No longer dancing to the tunes of funders and university performativity measures, I am able to pursue topics that really interest me in (paradoxically) greater depth than was possible when delivering grant-funded projects. Through these pages you can access pre-publication “work in progress” papers on topics that are of interest to both choral singing and paediatric medical communities.
From a common ancestry in How High Should Boys Sing? you will find two main threads of work:
- Trends in the timing of puberty and voice change
- Voice parts and the range of boys’ voices
- Health applications
